Boots for the Week

I got new boots - check them out !!

Swedish Hasbeen Clogs... I've bought them from a website in the States and postage was about $60. YEESH! I believe Gorman are about to start stocking them. Damnit, they felt so unique for a moment there!

S is for sensible, and these shoes sure are Sensible!

I bought these boots from Country Road this afternoon.. they are going to travel to the States with me, and serve me well all over Illonois and Ohio (thinking of the recent snowstorms!). I have always resisted this style of boot.. but all of a sudden I see them as being an absolute must-have! I actually can't wait to wear them- i thought I might resent their sense and sensibility!

Orange

This week I was up in Orange working.. it was actually a real surprise, I really liked it! The furthest I'd ever been past the Blue Mountains, was Lithgow... and my memories of Lithgow were of a barron, dry landscape.. with a depressed town centre. Perhaps I went on a bad day or something!? but Orange, about an hour or so away on the Grt Western Hwy, was a thriving, bustling, young town.. surrounded by rolling green hills (i underderstand it's because of the recent rain!) and productive Apple Orchards, weighed down with tonnes of fruit! I have never seen so many apples in my life!

On the first day that i was there, I was running early for an appointment so I drove to the Borenore Caves. Thinking of the impressive caves at nearby Jenolan, I'm not sure exactly what I expected... but when I got out of the car to an empty carpark, the deafening sound of bees, rustling trees, and this eerie feeling someone was watching me- I realised it was more Hills Have Eyes than it was Nature's tourist trap!

Here I am standing in the carpark...

The eerie pathway to the caves..

The general landscape.. so isolated!

Arrived to the top to find this... are you f*cking kidding me!? This is the cave on all the tourist brochures!? haha Okay...

I'll just enjoy it! Standing in front of the main event- The Borenore Cave! Behold it's majesty..

I went to a deer farm, where the elk staggs were on heat! They are pretty aggressive, and spend their time urinating all over themselves and rolling in the mud.

This was probably one of the only times I've ever thought of OHS! I have an absolute refusal to acknowledge it (I prefer to believe in common sense!) Anyways the farmer took me fanging around the farm (steep ridges) on a quad bike, I was carrying my camera and trying to take photos, and almost fell off the back! Whoopsies!

I met this guy, who seems to have the monopoly over the local fruit and veg scene in the little town of Canouwindra. Here we are at the Organic farm, checking out some heritage pumpkins.

This town was so interesting. It was so old... so quiet... there were about 5 pubs in the main street! Plus I found a little boutique stocking the most gorgeous clothing... so hip and cool in the middle of seemingly nowhere!?

Some of the buildings I drove past begged a photo.. I was constantly stopping, here's a few pics..

How is this for the local motel!?
I spent a long time wondering, is it or isn't it in operation!?
Honeymoon booking perhaps!? hehe.

I would love to paint this landscape...

Whilst in Orange and surrounds, I had plenty of time to Op Shop.. my bounty mostly consisted of old books.. this one I passed on, but I was intrigued by it's cover!

Can't not show the apples... APPLES APPLES APPLES! Every property is an orchard.
Even the little B+B I stayed in had an apple orchard on site!?

Driving back home through the Blue Mountains it dawned on me that this is my last recce for the Series of the show. Perhaps it won't get renewed for it's forth season!? Perhaps I will never travel for work again like I have done for the past three series of this program. I felt quite sad at the thought .. no more X 10 coffees driving around the countryside for days meeting crazy and amazing people.

I got back to Sydney in time for peak Hour. Damn, it was HELL. Then the heavens opened, and it poured, thundered, lightening. I was held up on the tarmac for two hours. I got home sometime after midnight. Soooo knackered, soooo glad to be home!

New Whiteley..

I painted this in a rush. It's a (not great) copy of a Whiteley... I am planning to almost tesselate these big canvases on the wall once i have a whole collection of them.

We also went house hunting yesterday.. this house was in Buninyong St, Yarraville.. location location! But check out the interiors.. it was in need of so much work that my head was spinning.

The creepy VHS collection...

THE ROOM in Melbourne!

So I won tickets to the amazing Cult Movie, The ROOM, starring Tommy Wiseau from Vice Magazine last night. F' CK YEAH! Here I am wearing my ROOM GENERATION t shirt, which was sent to me all the way from LA, picked up free by friends at an LA screening. This is a collectors T shirt and I love it, and it's crapness!!! I didn't end up wearing it, but it's awesome.

Lps modelling our ROOM t shirt. YEAH!

Cinema Nova is screening 4 sessions throughout February, 11PM on Saturday nights. One of the highlights of my year.. this movie is a true classic of terrible cinema!

originally I had only bought tickets for next week's screening, but then low and behold i won a double pass for last night. So with Short notice, LPs and I went and boy was it awesome!

Here we are getting ready.. I have my football and Decorative Spoon ready to go! We didn't end up taking the football but might get one for next week!

YEEEHAA!!! ROOM HERE WE COME !!!!!

Clothing Rut.

I think lately I have fallen into a bit of a rutt with clothes. My technicolour vision has dulled a bit (I just don't feel like wearing a hypercolour mish mash of a bright blue dress with a yellow cardigan, purple tights and red shoes) In some strange way I think my tastes have changed over the last year... i can't resist buying the 60s crazy floral dress from the vintage store.. but then I don't wear it. Anyways... I am currently in a state between then, and next, and havn't quite figured out what NOW is!?

So this week I felt like I was smack bang in the middle of a style crisis. What clothes do I like!? Floral Dresses? Black!? Why am I only wearing one or two pairs of shoes? Where are all my bows!? What the hell... Im so boring !! Some examples...

Maxi floral dress, bought for $29.00 before the maxi craze kicked in (we're talking about four years ago! It was the ONLY maxi I had ever seen at this stage!) It was dug up from back of wardrobe. With gold boots, and a Grey Kookai Cardigan.
Of all places I bought this mid length dress from a surf shop!? I didn't notice until I got home that the label called it a "Faux Denim dress". On closer inspection of the pattern, i realised it WAS INDEED a faux denim! That's a bit NQR. Anyways. here it is with Marc Jacobs Sandals and sass and bide t shirt (now a firm wardrobe staple)

Close up of the "faux denim" pattern. haha.

I have MANY vintage dresses waiting on an outing/ wearing/ photographing/ straight to ebaying. I bouht this one last week in St Kilda, because the floral was so digital looking- it looked like a silk print from a Romance was Born Collection!? Anyways it is about two sizes too big, and makes me look two sizes bigger as a result! I was imagining i would wear it with tan boots come winter, but it's gone straight to ebay...
I have been so damn tired, i look and feel like hell, as this photo suggests!

Getting ready for a trip to NYC is not going to be easy given this current wardobe climate. Am going to consider buying a good pair of boots, and a good trench (It feels very esprit to say this, but am contemplating something from Karen Millen to fit this void) then i will wear that the entire time Im away!!! I will wear one outfit (I can forsee absolute hatred for myself arriving in NYC with one outfit, ahaha)

Swedish Hasbeens.. WOAH !!!I

I have just come accross these absolutely incredible AMAZING boots made by Swedish Hasbeens. I'm completely torn now.. why did I have to see them!? they are going to do my head in thinking about how amazing every single pair is !!! woah. I would find it almost impossible to even choose a pair.

Top picks... high heeled jodphurs in blue or black with a natural heel...
Have switched my Acne Pistol boot preference to grey.... still thinking thinking, wish i wasn't so fickle!

Stop with the maxis already!!

I just bought this Ebony Eve Sienna floral maxi on the spur of the moment just now.. i just thought the floral print was so adorable... the problem is i have about 15 floral maxi dresses, 95% of which have been 'retired' due to excessive bust exposure... plus the fact I'm just sick of maxis! Oh well, fingers crossed this is as cute in person as it is on the website!?

So, apart from this lil number, I've decided this week Im going to start taking some of the maxis up to knee length.. there's no point having them cast aside in my wardrobe... Need to breathe some new life into them!!
