Alice Springs + Missing drivers license = Disaster

AAAHHHHH!!!!

My god today has been a trying day.

I arrive at Tiger to catch my flight (quite the experience, for example my cabin bag was .5kg over and I had to have it checked- I think they act tight so the flight feels cheaper!?)

Whilst Im checking in, I go to give them my drivers license for ID, and realise it's missing. Problem in itself, but then there's an absolutely monumental queue of passengers behind me, and I get all flustered trying to find it. Crisis averted- I had three named cards- they accepted.

When I arrive in Alice, with this missing license drama forgotten, I go to collect my hire car from Hertz, and Holy fuck- i realise i actually really, really need it!

The girl flat out refused to give me the car, then waivered and said the ONLY CHANCE i had was to get a confirmation letter from Vic Roads to confirm, yes indeed I possess a current drivers license.

This process took approximately 2 hrs, whilst the people at the cattle station waited for me to visit, I sat in the airport. The girls at the desk told me they were going to move cars and would be a couple of minutes.. right as they left I noticed the fax came through. They took AN HOUR!!! When one of the girls came back, she was extremely inexperienced, and refused to accept the letter. I end up on the phone with accounts at work (considering it's a work account) trying to get an old invoice from a past hire car Ive used. She doesn't accept it... this went on and on and on and on... untill finally.. four hours later, I somehow manage to collect my car!

Second Crisis averted. Phew.

So I start driving to the cattle station- the owner calls and tells me she has to go to town. Thank fricking god (in my mind) cause it was raining when i arrived and the outback, FRIGHTENINGLY TEXTURED road, now semi submerged, was about to bog the sedan! (in fact in my haste i lost control of the steering- i had to rationalise and slow down!). Ill go see her on Saturday.

So i Drove back to town and checked in to my apartment, tried to figure out if the 2-3km walk into town was worth the potential issues... I don't know how 'colourful' this street gets at night! So I drove, and decided to pick up some booze later. I went to go and see the Night Markets... and nothing was happening! I overheard an Aboriginal lady say the council had cancelled them.. that sucks.

I ended up having dinner at the Overlander Steakhouse, and I had a mixed grill of Crocodile, Emu, Kangaroo, Barra & Beef (the croc was in a vol au vent hehe). My waiter seemed to be a bit mentally challenged, he was so strange. He did one particular move with my serviette.. he was just putting it on my lap (awkwardly) but the way he introduced what he was about to do "i'll just need to organise your napkin!.." I was expecting a napkin/Cocktail type manoevre.

Then I needed a beer so I went to the bottleshop, and it turns out they don't serve alcohol to ANYONE (no matter how old and haggered u look as a 29 yo!) .. So i couldn't even enjoy my evening in my room with a beer or two. Crisis NOT averted.

Ok. Rant + vent Over! I just hope i make up time tomorrow!!!

And the pictorial (without the drama) ...

My precious hire Car with Genuine Red Centre Dirt on it..

Turn on the TV, and as per ALWAYS, Two and a Half Men is on..
Anzac Hill, I thought Why not!? (walk up it)
En route to the top... me & my foul roots.
View from the top as the sun starts to set over the township..
Me and Alice, at one..
Creepy blackbirds...
And finally, the scene of my meat onslaught (dinner)
They didn't even offer to brand my bum!? (their thang!?)

Love the random pleasure of walking past a fart bomb packet.. i wonder how this one was detonated!? ;)

HOLY MOLY my new dream from MARNIE SKILLINGS

I saw the new Marnie Skillings range at Arabella Ramsay last week, and looking up her website now I stumbled across this AMAZING floral jumpsuit. It's super exy for a jumpsuit, but it's damn amazing. And in person the fabric is absolutely divine.

I wonder if i could pull off the colour, it could almost be a bit anaemic...

It's funny when you think 'I could buy this OR i could buy my new bed" haha. It's on the wishlist.

Photos past will serve photos future...

I've been tidying up Nick's room and I came accross a bag of old cards etc that I'd made for him. In the mix was this photo of me when I was still working on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire. It was taken by my very Christian workmate, who thought it was a sweet thing to do, and constantly did similiar things for her boyfriend.

The polaroid camera was used to take photos of contestants, which were then stapled to their bios, to be passed on to Eddie so he was well researched when they made it throught the "Fastest Fingers" round. Here I am in my ZImmermann leather jacket, tied in a bow (which I still wear!) when Id first had my fringe cut, looking very skinny.

I am 100% definitely starting a diet tomorrow. I am looking obese! I just don't feel like I care right now to do anythign about it, but i look so bad so i have to! Im heading to Alice Springs on Thursday and the thought of baring skin is hideous! I can't wait to look at these pics of what Ive been wearing and think WOW i looked so fat eh!?

We had a band BBQ on the weekend, and it was the first time I wore my mu mu which Ive sewn into a top. It is way too tentish, however I dig the sleeves & the fluro red colour..
Vintage dress turned into a top, topshop jeans (complete with the rip made when i fell over in berlin on the 19.8.09!) Bloch Ballet Flats.

And this is what i drank at the BBQ.. lots and lots...
And Im fat because.... !?

Random outfit from this week. Sass & Bide Jacket, Karen Walker tent tunic, Topshop jeans, my gold Asian shop (fake Marc Jacobs) booties...

Here is the hilarious one. And it goes to show why i will never, ever, ever work in the corporate world. Matt was filming a short film on the weekend about the Prime Minister, and I agreed to go along as.. a.... POLITITIAN! hahah. When I rocked up both Narrelle and Sev almost fell on the floor, so allow me to present myself in sensible attire...

Veronica Maine blazer, Saba top, some french skirt of my mum's and the only SEMI sensible shoes I own, some electric Blue Witchery Pumps. Urgh, makes me cringe to the maximum!!

I must get Nick to start taking some pics of me, as these self photographs are pretty bad! Nonetheless, here the same corp look is again, front on + fuzzy..

In day to day news we have a work experience student staying with us (15yo) arranged by the boss. Strange strange scenario. Here is my room, contents shipped out and ready for her arrival...

And just because I could never imagine I would transfer these stickers to elsewhere, my grotty lightswitch with Japanese stickers circa middle school (all the rage!!) I can't bare to take them down..
okies, off to pack for alice!! woowooo...

Moving Out

So this is blog entry take 2. I have already written this, however my laptop seems to have a problem with it's power supply and TURNED OFF! Man, what a drag! So .. here we go again..

This week has been hard. Like really, really hard. The jetlag kicked in X 1000, and whilst Nick could do nothing but sleep (and feel sleepy) I felt wired, alert, and completely + utterly unable to sleep before 4AM every single night. I was running on a completely empty tank. Luckily i think it's started to wear off now! I am old, I can't believe how badly skipping a night's sleep and changing timezones affected me. I blame my recent 29th birthday!

Here I am taking a photo of me sleeping w/ tink & Giz at around 4AM during the week (around the "officially going-crazy" hour!)
Damn them and their effortless round the clock snoozing!!

Next up, my Marc Jacobs bootie have made their first outing! I wore them twice this week. They've left everyone fairly perplexed.. I understand they are weird and ugly, but that's what I love about them! I guess the only negative is that they do make my size 41 foot, look like a size 41 foot, but what can you do about that..
And my Primark dress has also made it's first outing.... I LOVE the print..
Diet starts tomorrow so the dress will look FAB!

Probably the big news this week is that I started moving out. My boss arranged his friend's daughter to come and stay here (long story) which forced me to get started moving things out of my room. It was a flipping nightmare. I have never done a thorough top to bottom clean of everything at once, it's usually one thing at a time. I have SO MUCH STUFF. My room is one thing, but when it comes to cleaning out my other room (with 2 extra chests, 2 extra cupboards) then I think Im going to have a nervous breakdown! Two full bags have already gone to the op shop before ive even finished my bedroom. PHEW.

OK LETS GET STARTED ON THIS DAUNTING TASK

Tinkerbelle hanging out with my shoes
She LOVES to shmoozey my shoes.. not for much longer :(

Here's my room with it's natural mess before it's all gone...

Tinkerbelle watching over the mess Im creating.

Lipgloss etc

Some bags.

I am sure I will miss finding items of clothing freshly washed + hung for me!

Belts

The fun thing is that you encover a whole range of treasures, forgotten treasures!
Tony Martin autograph from 1992 at the back of my old wardrobe!!

Letter sent from Paul & Darren with a pic of Joe dressed up in Black metal makeup to go to Subculture- hahaha. TOO FUNNY, amazing i found it!
Mulberry bag that I forgot I own, but love and want to get into again!
Paint Splattered bag i made back at uni. There was a phase back when sass and bide launched, when EVERYTHING had paint on it. Stupid because it's so easy to DIY. I never used this bag, but it's kinda cool. Hopefully gone to a good home at the op shop!

D Generation Green Guide cover found on the side of bookshelf when i pulled it out.

French movie ticket from when Trainspotting was first released, and I was on Exchange in Toulouse. It's priced in French Francs! (novel in light of the euro!)

Gorgeous vintage dress. Great cut, print, shape- everything!
i bought it on ebay and (unfortunately) it came in terrible condition- stained armpits, and weird little holes all over it. I was outraged for a moment, until i checked the listing and realised that in my haste to own it, I hadn't noticed all the flaws- of which it has many! I wasn't keen to throw it straight out, so it's been living on the bottom of the wardrobe.
Oh well. It's gone to the bin, but I did want to remember it.

Target platform boots- brand new, tagged 49.95. Couldnt figure out if these were a stay or go- i did pop them in the Op Shop Pile in the end. Why i would buy a shoe that's so obviously fake (woodgrain / suede) and then expect to wear it!? I rationalise in my head that they are cool and i will wear them, but of course I never ever ever WILL wear them!!

This belt was the bees knees when i bought it way back when. Strange.
It's SO skinny, i can't even imagine how it could have belted anything!

Vintage brown cardigan with a fishtail back.
Supre... is the brand we know so well a relaunch!? This one's gone to the Op.

I wrote & illustrated horror novels voraciously as a child...

I think I dreamt of the day Point Thriller series released one of my titles! haha.

Pile of crap for the Op Shop

Job for this week is to buy my dream bed from Freedom...

And one of these wardrobes from IKEA

PHEW! Well i better wash my hair and go to bed! Im off to alice springs this week! woowoo.
