Stop with the maxis already!!

I just bought this Ebony Eve Sienna floral maxi on the spur of the moment just now.. i just thought the floral print was so adorable... the problem is i have about 15 floral maxi dresses, 95% of which have been 'retired' due to excessive bust exposure... plus the fact I'm just sick of maxis! Oh well, fingers crossed this is as cute in person as it is on the website!?

So, apart from this lil number, I've decided this week Im going to start taking some of the maxis up to knee length.. there's no point having them cast aside in my wardrobe... Need to breathe some new life into them!!

Canberra

OH BOY OH BOY... THE ACT...

I was up working in Canberra this week.. I thought this would be an exceptional opportunity to update my blog, however my laptop was behaving badly and VERY slowly, as though it needed coal or something! I blamed Canberra, but when I came home on Friday night I had the same problem! What a grrrrmmpph!!! Lps did some maintenance work, only to find I had a Russian Trojan virus called Chopickta. Luckily it's gone, and Im back in action!

Anyways, so I was in Canberra. What a city! I can't believe this is our Nation's captital. I have been a couple of times before, but I blamed my younger age on my inability to connect with the vibe. Going back ten years later, it still lacks charm.. so underwhelming!

Night 1 I went for a stroll and got caught in heavy heavy rain! Some of the city sights...

The view of the rain coming in from my balcony ..

Getting up close with some Galloway cows at a farm..

I was snooping around trying to find the owners of this orchard.. no luck..

Tarts at Silo Bakery .. nom nom.

Chooks at a gorgeous garden, built in the middle of a barren landscape.

Canberra Glassworks...

The Canberra Glassworks introduced me to a new favourite artist, The father of Australian glassmaking, Klaus Moje.. his stuff is INCREDIBLE. Im semi inspired to take up glass art!

Taking in the views from Mt Ainsley...

Parliament house over there... Hi Kev!

What it looked like almost everywhere I went.. on the way to a Hazelnut farm, only 15 mins out of the city..

Today's Lust List for Footware.

It is perplexing that I have been searching for a good ankle wedge boot for ages, and still do not have a pair!? (having sold the Jeffrey Campbell 99s straight Away- too big!)

So last night, Australia Day eve, I got back on the hunt. I think i may have spent up to 6 hours online trawling the internet. Here are two of my favourites at the moment... Shock horror, no jeffrey campbell to be seen!

Chanel cc wedge boot.. currently in my size on ebay Brand New! ahh... what to do!? They tick all the wearable wedge boxes... not crazy playformed, match everything, a bit transeasonal etc...

Chanel seem to be tapping into a good wedge, I noticed these wedge t bars... very cute (very winter!?) but the studded cc's (i think i spy a turtle stud amongst the four leaf clovers!? adorable!) are so cute. Defo on the ebay watch list for the timebeing..
I went to the new Acne store in GPO yesterday.. yowser! They make some AMAZING shoes, I was in boot heaven!

I spied these knee High Pistol boots from across the room, and was smitten! They are so well made and substantial... i think I would wear them for ever!

I held back as I've just paid my visa to go to the states (a fast-processed band visa can be pretty pricey!) but I couldn't help but think these would be the ultimate boots for New York icy cold March weather!?

Apparently they've been a favourite overseas for a few seasons now (and painfully I noticed they've been 50% off on a few websites, only to be completely sold out of course!) Full price in the GPO. Big investment.. do i do it!? What's the best boot!? ahh.

What a wedding!

"Anne and Billy"

Last night we went to the reception for the wedding of LP's Workmate. WOW was it over the top. It was held at a reception centre in Ascot Vale, which seemed to be done in a mock tuscan royale style, complete with faux renaissance paintings! It was so kitsch that it was absolutely AMAZING. There was 350 people there, the families were Vietnamese. I can't imagine the expense of this wedding.. it was totally OVER THE TOP!

We were told "drink as much as you like" .. and we did! We got pretty spazzo actually!

The amazing menu.. 8 courses! Two of which blew my mind.. one was half a lobster (I ate a whole lobster as LPs wasn't really into his. The course after that was Abalone and sea cucumber!

(amongst other fancy delights!)

The problem with such an obviously expensive menu, is that I saw half of it being talken away to the bin! noooo.

There were pyrotchnics and a SMOKE MACHINE!.. No joke. See below. The bridal waltz was not to be missed...

The little touches, hahaha.

We had a good night all up ... a feature of this reception centre is that there are video screens all over the room, just in case you're away from the action. See in the background! crazy. This was during arrivals, and the bride and groom had photos taken with every single one of their 350 guests in the foyer...

Did I get ideas for my own upcoming wedding? um, no... none!

Wedding Vietnamese BedSheets

I don't know why, but lately I feel like Im living on no sleep. This is odd, because I've tried really hard all week to get to bed early, (midnight hehe) but every morning I wake up with the same fatigued sense of sickness. I am so tired in the mornings that I feel ill. Generally it takes 6 coffees and I'm back in functioning order. Right now I'd say Im functioning at 20%.

So we had a wedding today, and this morning was no different! it was a workmate of Lp's at the St Ignatious Hill on Richmond Hill.

I agonised for 20 minutes over which outfit I would wear, it came down to three possibilities. The first one features an Ebony Eve top I bought from Myla boutique yesterday. I went to the shop not expecting much, and found they had samples of all my favourite floral stuff! Most things were too small, but this blue kimono style beaded sequin jacket was perfect. I bought it hastily without realising there are strange, splotchy stains all over the arms. Argh!
Shown with Ted Baker dress- blue overload! The problem with this shade of blue is that it looks a bit like a work shirt?
Pretty detailing on the back of the jacket. As you can see it's hardly an iron free fabric!!
ye faithful Scanlan and Theodore red shimmer jacket with the investment dress I've barely worn! I was determined to wear it today, but of course couldn't make up my mind and went with my black Russian floral silk dress... boring boring boring. I am sick to death of defaulting to that dress!

Anyways after the wedding it poured with rain, we drove down to Victoria St as I was craving Vietnamese.. went to Thy Thy.. first for lunch! :)
I am tired as hell. Looking at this photo makes me feel even snoozier!

My favourite thing when dining Viet style, Vietnamese special drink!..

It's the little decorative touches that make a restaurant like Thy Thy such a pleasure to be in.. the Disco Ball, the Essendon FC clock, this fake yellow blossom with Commonwealth Bank branded red envelopes hanging from it...

Not to mention the celebrity Thy Thy diners board.. None other than Ronnie Burns, Jack Jones (from Southern Sons- Rebecca Gibney's ex husband!) and Peter Moon have dined here!

There is even a fan card for the old Price is Right, pinned to the bottom left hand corner. Amazing.

And finally yesterday i think i may have come accross the best bargain of all time. Arabella Ramsay Doona & pillow case sets.. reduced from $285 down to $29!!!!!
I couldn't believe it, i bought myself, Narrelle and the boys a set.

The quality is sensational, and the high thread count delicious! (I wanted to use the word delicious to describe something, hehe. :)

I've blogged, now I sleep. In my soft, smooth lovely sheets.. the reception is at 8PM tonight, so best I get some shut eye!

ps. got my hair done last week.. doesnt exactly look it (again) hmmm.

Karen Walker Sunglasses - Sir Bookie

Once again I've come accross the bargain basement Karen Walker Sunglass seller.. I purchased another pair of crazy Sir Bookies (let's face it, they are not wearable!)
The last pair i bought were falling off my head, whereas these ones are quite tight.. has my head expanded!?

Straight onto Ebay for these babies!

I've felt a lull in Karen Walker's designs... it feels like her last season was for ever ago, and her new season is nowhere to be seen. Anything that does come out is very Karen Walker, but also very same same. Hope there's not trouble in quirky fashion paradise!

I've not embraced any of the Hi there by Karen Walker at Myer, and I feel that's all I've been seeing in store lately. I love her and want more more more!! In my dreams my wardrobe is full of Karen Walker! So, the only option is to go to New Zealand and check out the store, ahha.

My new Old Pink Dress..

Up in Gympie I came accross this vintage pink pleat dress in an op shop for 9.95.. pleats arn't my thing at all, but as it was my size, and my favourite neckline, it felt too fateful to pass up. I wore it to Al Green last night, and was pretty happy with it!?

Vintage dress, Gorman clogs, MJ Bag.

Jewellery of note: YSL Coral Arty, Aboriginal bracelet mum bought me in Alice Springs (it's first outing!) Engagement Ring, Glitter bracelet, Gucci watch... plus mega bags under my eyes.. goddamn I've been so tired !!!

I had my hair done today, so hopefully starting to look a lil better! Christian was here until 4am this morning drinking with us outside, and I think I woke up still drunk... feeling like hell and have a big dinner on tonight!!
